Dominion Defender
A downloadable game for Windows
Dominion Defender
is a top-down 2D tower-defense game set on a procedurally generated map.
Start from a base with nothing but barebone walls, gather resources from the environment with your trusty multi-use laser, then turn that laser around and blast enemies into the grave!
Features
include a dynamic speech system where enemies speak their minds about the world, a huge honkin' laser with which the player can cut down trees and invaders alike, and free-form tower building to develop any kind of base you want.
There are 12 distinct towers to choose from.
Endless Waves
Invaders periodically arrive from boats in waves, with no end to their invasion. Expanding the base and keeping your castle from dying is goal of the game. Defend your dominion!
There are 11 unique enemies that can arrive on your shore.
Upgrades
The player's avatar can be upgraded with gold collected from fallen enemies. However, on death, the upgrades will be reset and lost.
Concluding
Dominion Defenders has been a very interesting project to explore that I didn't expect to make. It started as a dive into procedurally generated maps using Unity's tilemap system but became something much more after I added some basic interactions with the world.
There are over 300 lines of dialogue written for the enemies, and a spreadsheet of all of them can be found here
This project was made in 45 hours over 15 days. It was mainly inspired by Worldbox, ZOMBS.io, and Bloons TD.
Thank you for checking out the game page! Hope you enjoy it. Dominion Defenders will not receive updates in the future.
