Split & Evolve 2
A downloadable game for Windows
Split & Evolve 2
is the full sequel to my old game Split & Evolve. Generate a world with 7 unique biomes, watch as thousands of creatures change over generations, and disrupt their lives with your limitless powers and ungodly mutations!
Expanding on the original in more ways than one, this game is a showcase of my improvements over 18 months. However, it still stays true to the theme of Split & Evolve; the googly eyes stay on!
Procedural Generation
The fertility, temperature, and tile type is determined by different layers of generation, creating a world with swaths of unique biomes.
Parts & Organs & Everything Nice
Creatures can mutate major organs and body parts to quickly get an edge over the competition. With 14 different genes to mutate, there's no telling what monsters you can make!
EVOLUTION!
Not to forget the premise of the game, there are numerous hereditary traits that change across generations. From cowardice and speed to size and strength, there are numerous niches the creatures can evolve to occupy.
Ending Statements
Split & Evolve 2 has been an idea in my head for a long time now, starting from the moment I released the first game and saw everything wrong or missing from it. The development of this game took 42 hours over 19 days.
I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out, and I've learned a lot about optimization from this project. However, there are still features I couldn't implement in time (creature creator), but maybe I'll leave that for the next version.
Thank you for checking it out!

also i just ran the simulation and went afk for a bit and when i came back there were 35,000 critters and i had to close the game because it stopped responding
Unfortunately it does get less stable at faster speeds. I tried my best to fix these issues but lost motivation to resolve it when it took too long to find the source of the problem.
Thank you for trying it out though!
does the simulation become less stable at faster speeds?
